This vintage early 1900's blotter advertises Salvitae made by the American Apothecaries Co., New York. It reads "Acidosis" "The presence of an acidosis in a patient demands "a turn to the right", which in plain language means to effect alkalinization. The physician's problem is to restore metabolism by re-establishing the alkaline balance in the blood and tissue. This is exactly Salvitae's's mission. A glance at the formula of Salvitae will at once impress the medical practitioner with the therapeutic excellence of its various ingredients to carry out the work. DOSE: A teaspoonful in a glass of water four times a day." On the bottle pictured it claims to be a Uric-Acid-Eliminative ... ant-acid, antirheumatic, diuretic, laxative, and intestinal antiseptic---used in Rheumatism, Gout....(and a number of other ailments) Sounds like "snake oil" to me! But, a fun piece to display or give to your favorite doctor. Condition is fair with a crease at the top right corner, worn corners and some surface wear as well. Early 1900’s. This is a Unicum Brand Hair Net Envelope. Condition is very good with slight wavers to the envelope, and slight rounding at the corners. There is no hair net inside but the Original paper folder is inside and it has a lot of information on how the net is knotted by hand and different hairstyles. Judging from the hairstyle of the lady this is a 1920’s to 1930’s vintage item. It says on the package "Double Cap, Gray, Made of Human Hair Sterilized, Invisible Sanitary Durable, R. Odell & Sons Co., Newark, N.J." Back reads "Guaranteed Perfect upon Examination, when purchased, should this net be found unsatisfactory it will gladly be replaced." Contents are complete and unused.
